African-Americans: Black Americana information

 

On these pages we will supply as many pieces of information as we can - information that often has been overlooked or disregarded because it concerned African-Americans. Fortunately, times have changed: not only do the United States have a Black president now, but also has the public attitude slowly changed to a more decent approach towards ethnic diversity - many more pieces of info are becoming available, and interest increases daily.

 

"Black Americana" covers a wide range of items and ideas. You will forgive me that my choice of subjects will be personal, not only dictated by what happens to be available to me at any particular time, but also and probably mainly by my personal interests like, of course, the Tuskegee Airmen.

 

Talking about personal interests: to my many friends and acquaintances all over the world, my joy at Barack Obama winning the 2008 presidential elections didn't exactly come as a surprise! Just like many Europeans I was routing for the man like mad although, to be fair, McCain was a decent candidate who would have made a fairly decent president too. But like an incredible number of non-Americans all over our planet, there was no doubt in my mind that Obama is the best choice by far, a man whose election has brought hope to the world, and who may finally change the sad "evil empire" image that America has build up during many years. Fortunately the majority of voting Americans had the same idea, and here he is: Barack Obama, first African-American president of the United States!

 

Or course, due to Mr Obama winning, an enormous amount of new Black Americana has entered circulation. For the serious collector I have the advice to go for the rarer pieces right now, when they are still available. We have witnessed an event of truly historic proportions, and our descendants will love us for preserving some of it!
