Irosun Meji, protecting the Ori

Irosun, in particular Irosun Meji, is known as the "Resounding Osun", Osun being the Orisha that protects the Ori of the awo. Now the head or Ori is the place where consciousness stores its memory, so in a certain sense Osun protects or perception and understanding of the past. Following this line of thought, Irosun (Meji) represents the fixed reality of those things that have already happened. (Now as a sort of side note I would like to mention that in true reality the past is not "fixed" at all: we change it all the time, with the interesting consequence that your Head/Ori contains a different "past" today than it did yesterday. We just don't notice it.)

Ifa-Orisha attaches much value to recognizing the wisdom of the past: we are what we are because we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us.
Irosun Meji then speaks of the necessity to honor and respect the Ancestors, to keep remembering their achievements, so that we may recognize how much they have contributed to our own consiousness. This process inspires us to establish our own position of respect and success in this world. After all: those who succesfully accept this challenge will be the revered Ancestors of the future...!
Irosun Meji with Ire produces rewards for the correct acts and decisions: an abundant harvest can be expected. The client will become the recipient of other peoples' generosity. Peace and quiet will be the results of material well-being. Be calm, and wait for the right moment for action. When Irosun Meji comes with Ire, some of the key words are: reward, abundance, peace, correct timing.
Irosun Meji with Ibi sees the client caught in cyclic and repeating patterns from which he cannot escape. Bad timing or wrong actions lead to bad results. Failure and poverty can be the results of the wrong job, or even a totally wrong career. Some of the key words for Irosun Meji with Ibi are: repetition, bad timing, poverty and conflict.

"Those who feel good
also behave good, the good Awo"
was the one who cast for Head,
on the day Ori came down to Earth.
They told him to make ebo.
Ori listened and made the sacrifice,
him being the same Ori
that had come to Earth fearing
there would be no abundance for him.
Osun, being the one who listens
and takes good care of me,
you are the one I tell my destiny,
Ifa, make me a rich man in this life.
Ori, who thought that he would never have a wife,
Osun, you are the one I tell my destiny,
Ifa, let me have a good woman in my life.
Ori, who came to Earth thinking
he would have no ire,
Osun, it's you I tell my destiny.
Ifa, let me have all ire in my life.
