Jaap's Ifa Texts
Underneath the relevant links in the top navigation bar you'll find the steadily expanding online version of "my" Ifa text corpus (Ese Odu Ifa). By "my" I mean that it is the corpus that I personally work with, having been developed and collected during my years of practice. All Ifa texts on this site are based on orthodox sources. The poetic renderings however, are my own. Since nobody can own the wind, copyright the Earth, or claim possession of the sky, I will not copyright the Wisdom of Nature that speaks through these verses. So feel free to copy and/or distribute "my" texts under the following conditions: please clearly cite me as the author of the poetic rendering something like"Traditional; arr. Jaap Verduijn" so people do not think it's your own, and a link must always be included to this website http://www.ifa-orisha.com so people know where it came from. The collection is steadily growing, not only because I've got so many "paper" texts that it will taken me many months to put them online, but also because you cannot "close" Odu. So... hit the relevant links in the navigation area and they will take you to the Odu!

Alternative Odu names AKA Odu aliases
There are many alternative names for the various Odu Ifa, which can be very confusing even to the experienced Babalawo. Below I give you some of these names and their better known equivalents.. Please be aware that there are hundreds more, what I show you here is just those I happen to know... Some alternatives are in Yoruba, some are in other languages, due to the fact that Ifa divination isn't confined to Yoruba or Nigeria at all: in fact it's wide-spread over the whole of West-Africa.
