Irete-Irosun
Irete'Rosu cast Ifa for Olofin,
who was told to sacrifice on account of
unforeseen difficulties. A white pigeon,
a white hen, and 2400 cowries
were the sacrifice.
"However hard the soil may be,
the tete plant should be able to grow on it.
That's why you and I ruin you.
If Odundun tries to florish,
Irete brings her to submission.
If the cricket treads on Irosun,
it stands still".
Burn the leaves of tete, odundun,
renren and ripe bananas, and keep
the powdered ashes in a small calabash.
Draw the Odu with the powder
every time you use it.
After having marked the Odu,
put the powder in cotton wool,
bind it with white and black threads
an carry it in your pocket, or
keep it in the calabash underneath a stone
so that there is pressure on it.
This is called Edi, which means
"pressure or stress that we do
not know the cause of". Every child
born under this Odu, will be
a person of authority.
