Ogunda-Irosun

"Ogunda did not give offence,
Ogunda did not cause pain,
it is not good to punish Ogunda"
were the ones who cast for Olowo,
on the day that he was told
to make sacrifice, in order not to
be punished his whole life long.
They said that never in his life
Olowo would be punished.
"What is the sacrifice?"
one very happy Olowo asked.
One pigeon, one sheep, 4400 cowries.
Olowo listened and made the sacrifice.
Always honor and respect other people;
it is better not to punish
the son of an honorable man.
A tree is honored
for its complicated shape;
albino's are honored
because of Obatala.
All of you should honor me.

"It is character, character that insists, that
keeps going forward, keeps going strong, the very moment
it comes to earth, such character becomes a habit"
was the one who cast for Six Elders, on the day
that they were on their way to a house
where intelligence and wit were largely absent,
and where a sense of humor was unknown.
These Six Elders, everything they did ended up
in confusion. Now can't that be cleared up.
so that things will make sense again?
They told them to offer six kola nuts, six atare peppers,
six bags of cowries, six pigeons and six chickens,
the latter to be given to the People under the Earth,
a gift to the Egun or Ancestors. The Six Elders listened
and made the sacrifice, they places some of the atare
peppers on the offering, end the remainder on the grave.
At the dawn of day thyey ate the peppers, and immediately
everything they said began to become true!
"It is character, character that insists, that
keeps going forward, keeps going strong, the very moment
it comes to earth, such character becomes a habit,
charactyer is the only thinhg that stays" was the one
who cast Ifa for Six Elders, on the day
that they went to make the best of something bad,
to turn something bad intyo something good.
They listened and made the sacrifice, and so it happened
that everything the Six Elders did, turned out tyo be
for the benefit of all.
After reciting the above Odu text, the Awo might continue with the following personal recitation:
Greet the offering, with the wish
that we may survive this situation! Ifa says
that the world is full of toil and injustice
for this client, who would do well to make
good use of the wisdom of his Ancestors, his Egun!
Because there is nothing new under the sun, and no
situation this client finds himself in wasn't yet
encountered by his Egun, who dealt with it
magnificently! And Ifa says that we should
become more alert, more conscious,
more witty an more clear: speak with
atare pepper corns in the mouth, and if
that doesn't work, put some pepper
in another orifice!
The Six Elders that the text speaks of, are themselves Awo's, and/or Ogboni. The Awo should check if some diviner-initiation is in order for this client.
