Odu Owonrin

Owonrin was born in Gbegbekunegbe near Ketu, as the son of the king. He was born during a great famine. The story has it that he was a changeling. The meaning of his name is not sure, it might be "from the East". Owonrin has a taboo against eating peas. He cannot fetch water from the stream early in the morning, or lay his pot down if he has to wait at the spring. He must not use palm nut shells for cooking or kindling a fire.
