Orunmila
Orunmila, also called Ifa, is the Orisha that creates order in the universe, not to mention in human life. I hesitate calling himn an Orisha, because just like his close companion Eshu I believe that he is a deity "sui generis"... one of a kind. The name "Orunmila" is open to debate... my personal opinion is that it may very well be a sub-Saharan pronunciation of the Arabic "Er-Raml" which is simply the Arab name for their "sand cutting" divination system... which is closely related to Ifa. In the Western diaspora Orunmila is often callen Orunla. As for pronunciation: the emphasis is on "run": Orunmila, Orunla.
