Oshun
Oshun... one of the most popular Orishas, end for good reasons! She rules erotic love, wealth, honey, gold, good things... in short: if you've got Oshun, what more do you need? She's also the Orisha of cool, fresh water, but make no mistake: love and coolness aside, an enraged Oshun is terrible! You want her as a friend, not as an enemy! Her favorite colors are gold en yewllow, although a bit of orange never goes wrong with her either.
Oshun is one of the more or less "universal" Orishas, worshipped in just about every branch, nook and cranny of the Ifa-Orisha world, especially the diaspora. In certain places in Nigeria like Olúpònnà, Oshogbo and Ipònda, she is traditionally seen as the deity, her worshippers main or even only point of reference, instead of just a mediator between worshippers and some other superior being like a High God. Her history is more complicated than it seems though... although Oshun is presently strongly indentified with Oshogbo, research by for example Thomans Mákanjúolá Ilésanmí shows that she was a local Ekítí/Ijèsa deity before she become popularized at Oshogbo and politicized as the wife of Shango, Obatala and Ogun at different times.
